costs of hearing aidsThe costs of hearing aids has been slowly creeping up because of the latest computer and digital technology, which helps hearing impaired people hear better and more clearly, according to many reference journals.  Having to shrink all the digital technology into the size of a nickel is very time consuming and costly. This is why digital hearing aids and the smaller hearing aids are so expensive.

A person with the hearing disability or impairment need to have some amount of their own hearing left in order for a hearing aid to amplify sound into the ear canal and off  the eardrum so that the brain can make out the sound.  Hearing aids would not help the profoundly deaf people or those whose hard of hearing is so severe they can not hear even with a hearing aid.

Hearing clinics employ audiologists who helped hearing impaired people by running tests on their hearing in order to determine the extent of the person’s hearing loss.  This will show the audiologists what type of hearing aid would best be suited for this person.  There are digital hearing aids, which are some of the most technologically advanced hearing aids available today, and there are regular hearing aids that run on small batteries – the kind you might find in a watch – that do well for some people with mild hearing loss.

Many hearing-impaired people go on to become productive members of society, owning their own businesses such as modern kitchen designs, beauty shops, bakeries, car dealerships or working in hospitals and schools. They help the hearing world learn ASL, American Sign Language, to bridge the gap between the hearing and the non-hearing.  Furthermore, they can do just about anything a hearing person can do in terms of jobs except maybe speak on the phone, become a newscaster or radio DJ. They still could become investigative reporters and writers of every kind.

A hearing impaired person’s biggest setback is their voice. If they have a good sounding voice, it is because they had their voice in place before they lost their hearing or began losing their hearing. However, once a person loses their hearing, it is difficult for them to hear your own voice to modulate the tone. Therefore, a deaf person’s voice sounds very different than a person who does not have a hearing impairment.
