Android App Development Companies Expanding the Smartphone Arena
Articles December 27th, 2009For a while, the only thing in Smartphone choices were the Apple iPhone, Palm Pre or the Blackberry but now there is a new contender on the horizon, the Verizon Wireless and Motorola collaboration with Android based software named the Droid. Many first reviews are saying these phones rivals both the iPhone and Blackberry – their top competitors – not only for what the Android application developers has created but also for what the Droid can do as a Smartphone.
With Apple’s outlet, part of the reason for their success is the marketing support they receive from AT&T, the big carrier with exclusive U.S. iPhone rights. Once Verizon Wireless begins to preload Android Market on their new smart phones and offering their own application and games through their store, the Market’s usage and content will increase. According to a top executive consultant at IDC, within approximately 12 to 18 months, there should be a lot more interesting applications coming out of the Android app development companies.
The Verizon Wireless network has long been disputed to be more reliable than AT&T in many key markets. Add to that fact the prospect of more features and the Android phones become a viable alternative to the iPhones. The fact that Verizon Wireless partnered with Google, shows more initiative and less incentive for concessions when it came time to partnering with someone.
Motorola and Verizon Wireless network will advertise for several Android developers for hire because there Droid Store or Android Market – it’s been called both – is only up to 10,000 apps whereas the iPhone just reached over 100,000 apps in October of this year.
Verizon Wireless is wasting no time in catching up with their own creations like the Family Locator that easily allows anyone to locate your loved ones on your Verizon phone or PC – in real time. And tons of games Android development people created especially for Verizon such as iKnow series with iKnow: Movies; Bowling; Gumballs; Addicting Games-Quickies; Skipping School and Miss Drama Queen that are all sure to offer a person hours of electronic gaming entertainment.
