Some of the certified nursing assistants choose to work in the neonatal ward of a hospital because they like to help those coming into the world. Other CNAs like to work with elderly in hospices or at the Veteran’s Hospital to help those who served our country at the end of their lives. Whichever choice a certified nursing assistant makes, she or he will have to go through extensive CNA training programs before they will be able to work with any patients.

Certified nursing assistants will help registered nurses with their daily rounds which make sure the patients are well cared for. Sometimes this means moving patients so they don’t get bedsores, changing dressing on wounds or even helping them go to the bathroom. Nursing is a rewarding job but it is not as glamorous as some people make it out to be.

Many of the employees that are new to the health care profession are coming from other, non-related fields because their jobs are going overseas or disappearing altogether. For these people they may want to sign up for online CNA training courses, especially if they still have a job. This way they can work and go to school at the same time. Many people opt for this choice because they will be able to pay their bills and train for a new career.       

Even as most jobs are drying up and going away, the medical field is thriving due to a number of reasons. Many believe it is because of the aging baby boomers that need medical attention; others believe it is environmental issues such as toxins in the water supply and pollutions in the air we breathe. Yet another group claims the country is overweight and obesity causes a lot of medical ailments including diabetes. 

Whatever the cause for the increase in the health care and medical hiring boom, it is a welcome event for millions of people who are out of work or facing the uncertainty of a pink slip because of the economy. CNA training typically only takes a couple of years to less than two years and will garner an individual a good paying job at the end of their training and certification process.
